    Working Principle

    Difference method: The sample is fully oxidized to carbon dioxide and water by UV/persulfate oxidation. After condensation and dehydration, CO₂ is measured using a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) detector to determine total carbon (TC) content. The inorganic carbon in the sample is decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by the acid reagent. After condensation and dehydration, CO₂ is measured by NDIR to determine total inorganic carbon (TIC) content. TOC = TC – TIC.
    Direct method: The inorganic carbon in the sample is first decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by an acid reagent to remove total inorganic carbon (TIC). Then the organic carbon in the sample is decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by UV/persulfate oxidation. After condensation and dehydration, CO₂ is measured by NDIR to directly determine TOC content.

    Measurement Modes
    ModeOperating Principle
    TC modeDetermines total carbon in the sample. The sample in the UV reactor is decomposed into CO₂ under the action of oxidant, acid reagent, and UV.
    TIC mode

    Determines inorganic carbon (carbonate and bicarbonate) in the sample. In the UV reactor, carbonate and bicarbonate are decomposed into

    CO₂ by acid reagent.

    TOC mode

    Determines organic carbon in the sample. TOC is measured by difference: TOC = TC – TIC. The sample sequentially measures TC and TIC;

    The TOC obtained by difference includes both volatile and nonvolatile organic carbon.

    NPOC mode

    Determines nonpurgeable organic carbon in the sample. In the UV reactor, inorganic carbon is decomposed by acid reagent to CO₂ and

    purged, while volatile organic compounds are also purged. The remaining organic carbon is then decomposed into CO₂ by oxidants,

    acid reagents, and UV.

    Applications

    Petrochemical industry, Surface water, Drinking water, Circulating cooling water, Seawater

    Software Description

    The audit trail function is enabled and cannot be turned off.
    All test results are saved and cannot be modified or deleted.
    All operations (any user entry) are recorded.
    If a test method is modified, the changed parameters are recorded.
    Data can be exported and backed up to protect stored data for future retrieval.

    Features

    Four detection modes: TC, TIC, TOC, and NPOC, all in the same reactor.
    A high-reflectivity gold-plated gas cell, a high-concentration infrared light source, and a high-sensitivity infrared detector ensure excellent NDIR performance and sufficient sensitivity and accuracy for ppb-level measurements.
    A precision electromagnetic metering pump ensures accuracy and stability of sample injection volume.
    Dual-tube electronic condensation dehydration technology;
    Real-time visible detection curve for better visualization;
    Multiple real-time self-monitoring functions for temperature, pressure, and flow rate;
    User-definable calibration curve based on range, suitable for any water sample measurement.
