Working Principle
Through a high-performance oxidation catalyst in the combustion furnace, the sample is completely combusted at high temperature into CO₂ and water vapor. Water vapor is removed by a condenser, and CO₂ is measured by a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) detector to determine total carbon (TC). Inorganic carbon is decomposed by acid reagent into CO₂ and water; after condensation, CO₂ is measured by NDIR to determine total inorganic carbon (TIC). TOC = TC – TIC.
